Slingink’s Yearly Competition Schedule

Slingink Scribbling Slam - Member only competition – it is planned that this competition will run in 2011 and dependent on interest annually thereafter

Early September – Early/Mid December (exact dates vary)

6 rounds lasting a fortnight – poetry (poems of up to 50 lines) and fiction (stories of up to 2,000 words) strands

Entry Fee required [£12 per strand]- cash prizes for the top 3 entries in each strand [1st - £80, 2nd - £40, 3rd - £20]

(Registration will open Mid August each year and will close at the end of the first round)

Slingink Shorts – Open competition – it is regret that we announce that after the 2011 competition has been judged this competition will no longer be running due to lack of entries for the past two years. The 2011 competition will still be judged with the prize monies being topped up by previous anthology sales.

Write a short story using a maximum of 140 words (141 including the title). The work should have a single word as its title.

Entry Fee required [1 entry =£2.50, 3 entries = £5, 5 entries = £7] – cash prizes for the top 3 entries [1st - £50, 2nd - £25, 3rd - £15].

Competition Anthology named after the winning entry.

Free PDF copy (and reduced price print copies) of the anthology to all shortlisted entrants.

The Slingink Prize - Open competition- it is with regret that we announce that as of 2011 this competition will no longer be running due to lack of interest in previous competitions and lack of time available to organise.

The Slingink Prize for Fiction (for stories up to 3,000 words)

The Slingink Prize for Poetry (for poems up to 40 lines)

and:

The Slingink Junior Prize for Fiction (Under 16s only, 8-11 and 12-15) (for stories up to 1,500 words)

The Slingink Junior Prize for Poetry (Under 16s only, 8-11 and 12-15) (for poems up to 20 lines)

No Entry Fee  – Top 3 in each category published on www.slingink.com.

Publication in the Competition Anthology for the 7 shortlisted entries in each category.

[Please note that Slingink is a not for profit site and that the site administrator reserves the right to cancel competitions, return stories/poems and refund entry fees if costs for fee paying competitions are not covered through the entry fees - to ensure this doesn't happen please help spread the word among your circle of writers - thank you!
